It rained the past 2 days, is raining again today, tomorrow, the next day and the next day, and the…………you get the picture! With 8 straight days of rain in the forecast (YES – EIGHT...don’t even get me started) what is one to do but embrace it, grab the camera, the macro lens, and find a way to capture raindrops without drowning said camera gear.
I wrapped my camera in a towel and sat on a stool under my deck to play with raindrops over the weekend. I love – LOVE – those itty bitty drops that you see on the very tips of grass blades. I don’t know why…what it is about this I admire so much…but I can’t get enough of them. I could stare at them for hours.
Here’s one of my shots. A single drop on a grass blade, reflecting lots of other grass blades. Pure bliss!
When the rain slowed down to a steady fine mist I quickly ventured out to my front garden were my violets are in bloom and took these shots. I say ‘these’ (as in plural) as this is a composite of two macro images.
Why would I do that? Combine 2 macro images…well, because I love Photography AND Art. I cannot rezzzzzzzzzzeeeesttttttttt the urge to be extra creative with my images. I was born that way. I can’t help it!
I even went so far as to paint a soft & subtle texture around the lavender background. I think it’s dreamy. I could stare at it all day. I’ve set it as my new desktop background to help me wait out the weather. You can too if you like. Just click on the image to open larger view in a new window. Right click on the picture and set as desktop background. If you love purple and lavender, it’s just what the Dr. ordered :)
Have a super week everyone and….embrace the rain!
((hugs))

Found some of your work on webshots and thought it was amazing. I loved the bubbles with their colors and the macro rain drops. I’m retired now and just got into taking pictures as something to do and have fun at. Actually my wife and daughter are the artistic ones. My daughter does some very nice work with her art and photography and has been helping me along,(I’m still trying to learn my Canon). Anyway, your work is just great and I look forward to seeing more of it. Have a wonderful day.
Bear
Thanks so very much for the visit & kind note Bear! I think it’s wonderful you can share photography with your wife & daughter. You’ve just reminded me that I need to take the time to upload a new blog post – even if it’s just a quick post for a recent shot. Take care & have fun with your camera :)
Such beautiful images … and I think you’ve got a wonderful idea about embracing the rain … what an inspiration you are!!!!!!!!
Good morning Robyn & thank you! I believe in that old adage as well ;)
Beautiful photos, Renée! They prove that old adage – every cloud has its silver lining. :)
